NO APPLICATION EP OUT NOW!

So… The time has come. The veil can be lifted, (OK so it kind of was in that you could pre-listen the tracks ahead of release). You can now grab yourself a copy of the entire ‘No Application’ EP HERE… and here’s the track-list:

1. No Application

2. Goldener Reiter (Joachim Witt cover, as far as I know the only version out there sang in English)

3. No Application (The Countach Remix) Spooky synth disco rework of the title track. Tasty.

4. Gone (The Viceroy Suite Remix) Ace dub of ‘Gone’, one of the tracks from the forthcoming LP, a sneak look ahead in bespoke remix form.

Grab the EP now from iTunes, on HIDDEN PONY RECORDS.

We head down to play in London THIS FRIDAY NOV 25th for ‘Friday Night Fist Fight’ and will be ‘joint headliners’ (I think that means second to last on but preserves our egos). The show is at The Old BLue Last and is Free Entry, with DJs and 4 bands playing, including gothic electro pop act ‘Age Of Consent’. Here’s the Facebook Event and the ‘real life’ event.

We have had some great support from BBC Introducing and there is a few things here for you to check out…

Last night our interview and 2 acoustic tracks we did for Sam Walker at BBC Introducing in Manchester were aired. We played ‘All in All’ and gave a worlds first airing, presuming drunken campfire massacres of the track don’t count, of ‘Long Way Down’ which will feature on the LP.

There’s also a fair bit of me not knowing the answers to simple questions, and making up the answers to others (concept album based on 80s/early 90s CGI kids fantasy game show ‘Knightmare’ anyone?) you can listen again HERE…  about 25 minutes in.

The wonderful Tom Robinson, who I only recently realised was the same guy responsible for ’2 4 6 8 Motorway’ (tune) played ‘No Application’ on his BBC6 Music show on Saturday and gave us some kind words, you can listen again to that HERE…  about 25 minutes in again (spooky).

We were also featured in the FREE DOWNLOAD podcast from the show, some really good stuff in there with us.

We were also filmed for BBC Manchester Introducing when we headlined for them at the Ruby Lounge… There’s a bit of an interview and the track we are playing is called ‘Holding On’. You may notice there seems to be a breakaway faction of my side parting that is hellbent on swapping sides. Didn’t notice on the night, clearly I was far too ‘In the Zone’. You can check that out HERE.

Also we have been featured on a fair few blogs, some of which are featured on Hype Machine. If you fancy heading over there and ‘Hearting’ us then feel free!

Ok, next stop London, see you Friday.

Silverclub Play Free Entry Gig at The Old Blue Last – Nov 25th

BBC Introducing FREE headline show / Morris Cowan/Duncan Edward Jones collaboration to be released on TRAUM offshoot ZAUBERNUSS / Silverclub remix RAH RAH for HIDDEN PONY RECORDS.

Plenty to pack in to this one so I’ll try not to ramble for once…

There has been a lot of people getting in touch asking when we play live next. I am pleased to tell you we will be performing at Manchester’s excellent RUBY LOUNGE on Friday October 28th, topping the bill for a FREE ENTRY show put together by the good folks at BBC Introducing.

I recently completed some work with the excellent Manchester based techno/house/electronic producer MORRIS COWAN and the fruits of our labour will be appearing on his new EP ‘Strands’

The track ‘Thermal’ which my vocals adorn opening what is a quite superb EP. It will be released on Ocotober 12th on Koln imprint ZAUBERNUSS, an offshoot of the seminal techno/house label TRAUM, which along with its sister label TRAPEZ, was hugely influential on my own work as DNCN.

I was also very pleased to be involved in a great collection of remixes for the superb Canadian collective, now our labelmates on HIDDEN PONY, ’RAH RAH‘. Basically I took their skewed indy pop stomper and LP title track ‘Breaking Hearts’ and turned it into a 5 minute disco filter jam. You can preview the ‘breaking hips remix by silverclub’ HERE. I couldn’t resist giving the mix a name of its own, it’s kind of a nod to the first high profile remix I did back in 2003. My ‘broken elbow dub’ for the FALLEN ANGEL single from ELBOW’s ‘Cast of Thousands’ LP. I remember being told I had been chosen by Guy Garvey upon a chance meeting in BIG HANDS (there were many), being bought a congratulatory drink (drinks) and waking up on my friends living room floor with a self inflicted (accidentally) shiner. Good times. Good times. Great to see them doing so well at the moment too.

I’ll leave you with a reminder that you can download the A-side and video from out forthcoming EP ‘No Application’ (out Nov 21st on Hidden Pony) for FREE, right NOW - HERE!

Take care all.

Breaking noise restrictions in London, and leaving with new shoes (without stealing them)

This week just gone we played our first show since the ‘No Application’ video and download went live, for the Gio Goi and Citroen DS3 racing London launch party.

The event was next door to the big chill bar in Shoreditch, at Dray Walk Gallery, and just a few doors away from a place called Cafe 1001, Where a few years back I convinced one of Mary Anne Hobbs team on what was then ‘the Breezeblock’ show on Radio 1 that I was, in fact, a lunatic when I was handing in a live set of my DNCN stuff to be played on the show. I still feel sorry for her now. I’ll never know why I arranged that time and place, knowing I would be coming off the back of an all nighter. C’est la vie huh. They still played the set.

Was pretty amazed by how many people knew the words to the tracks we have released, including ‘No Application’, which really hasn’t been around long. If this continues I’ll be sorely tempted to turn the mic to the crowd at a show in the near future (I won’t, it’s well Bono).

The feedback was great for someone like me who likes a good ego stroke, one person told me we were the new Metronomy which is very flattering as I think they are fantastic, although I don’t think we sound much like them, I guess it’s a similar ball park though. I was tempted to say ‘no we aren’t we are the first Silverclub’ which I actually did on Twitter (I now regret this, it sounds pretentious) and it’s pretty much a footballers response to being called ‘the new Zidane’ or whatever. Weird to be compared to a band who have really only just received their (deserved) recogntion too. More like being compared to the new Fabregas or something, someone who still has years ahead of them anyway.

Aaaaaaaanyway. As usual at every show these days, there was plenty of people who ran over enthusiastically after the show, preparing me for another round of praise about the performance, only to go “Oh my god, F**king AMAZING, WHERE did you get that shirt?!!”. Anyone who has followed the previous blogs will know they are all custom made for us by Constanze Friedrichs. They got plenty of attention in the UKs haircut capital (not that I can talk) and I should have taken more business cards to hand out for her!

Anyway, I’m off to the shop, sporting my new kicks (thanks again Gio Goi!) and leaving Londoners grateful I didn’t come good on my mid set threat to steal the ‘hot hatch’ from outside the venue, despite having no licence.

Apologies to Young British Artists too, who I am told had to turn their set down a bit after ours was too loud for the local residents. (theirs didn’t seem much quieter than ours to me). Quite an achievement on the same street as an all night techno/house club. More shows to be announced soon, along with news of some collaborations I have been working on.

No Application EP

Get your virtual hands on our next single ‘NO APPLICATION’ NOW!!

In the run up to the release of our debut album we will be releasing the ‘No Application EP’ on November 21st, through Canadian imprint ‘Hidden Pony‘. We are offering you the chance to get your hands on the title track from the EP early!

You can get your hands on ‘No Application’ NOW by heading over to our website.
Place your email in the app, decide which network you want to spread the word on and you will recieve instructions on how to download the MP3 absolutely FREE.

You can also check out the fantastic video made for us by ThreeQuartersProductions. You may have seen some of their work already as they were the guys behind the early videos from our friends, and my tip for the Mercury, Everything Everything.

I did consider running a competition to win the arm socket prosthetic we had made for the video (just watch it, you’ll see what I mean) But quite frankly it was kind of sticky and a bit of a rank thing to give away, memorabilia or not.

You can also stream the rest of the EP ahead of it’s release date, which includes, to my knowledge, the only english language cover of 80s NDW hit ‘Goldener Reiter‘ by Joachim Witt, plus ace remixes of No Application by The Countach, and a reworking of the as yet unreleased album track ‘Gone’ by the Viceroy Suite.

You may notice some new pics cropping up, courtesy of the excellent Tim Sinclair and plenty of you keep asking where our unique shirts come from, I can tell you that they are the work of the superbly talented Constanze Friedrichs. So drop her a line if you want her to make one for you.

We will be announcing some shows to back up the release soon, so keep checking back!

Take care now,

Duncan

BRAND NEW SILVERCLUB TRACK for MANCHESTER AID TO KOSOVO

Sorry to those of you following the blogs about the lack of updates in the last couple of weeks, we have been busy putting the final touches to a couple of things which I will tell you more about in the coming weeks…

“I’ll STICK AROUND”

Many of you will know that we are one of a fair few Manchester acts that proudly associate ourselves with the work of MaK (Manchester Aid to Kosovo).
We appeared earlier in the year as part of the compilation album ‘Ten’ with the likes of Elbow, Badly Drawn Boy, and The Travelling Band.
MaK are now about to start a series of heavyweight 12″s with exclusive tracks from artists new and established, and we are proud to have been asked to feature on the first one.

Side A features Badly Drawn Boy revisiting a track from one of his excellent early EPs, and reworking it into a near 16 minute epic, we head up side AA (who want’s to be side B, really?) and have given them exclusive use of a heavy grooving piece of electro/disco/pop called ‘I’ll stick around’.

We will be adding this to the set in the upcoming live shows (to be announced SOON) and it is a track we are all really fond of, we just don’t do throwaways, or rather, only I get to hear them if they aren’t up to standard!

Joining us on the record are up and coming manchester acts Water Signs and Ernest + Tom.

You can pre-order your copy now. This WILL sell out, there will be NO DIGITAL versions for sale. ORDER HERE

For more information on MaK and how you can get involved helping or make a donation please go to http://www.makonline.org/default.aspx

and for a copy of the excellent ‘Ten’ compilation long player from earlier this year, you can BUY HERE

Keep checking back in for more information on our next releases (we will be revealing more about THAT very soon)

Take care all.
